Yorkshire Sculpture Park: Not Vital
Yorkshire Sculpture Park, 2016

For his first major exhibition in the United Kingdom, Not Vital presents a broad body of work throughout the grounds and galleries of the Yorkshire Sculpture Park in Wakefield. From works on paper and paintings, to a site-specific installation and massive sculptures in ceramic and polished stainless steel, Vital's presentation explores and explains his itinerant creative project. Working with craftspeople on several continents—from ceramicists in Jingdezhen, China, to glassmakers in Murano, Italy—Vital harnesses local materials and knowledge to create universal meditations on the human place in the natural world, playing with scale and surreal sleights of hand.

David Hrankovic served as project manager for Vital, liaising with the Yorkshire Sculpture Park curatorial staff to coordinate logistics, shipping, and installation for the exhibition, as well as supporting the production of the exhibition catalog on behalf of the artist.
