The Soul Expanding Ocean #4: Diana Policarpo. Ciguatera

Drawing on her research on the remote Atlantic archipelago of Ilhas Selvagens, Diana Policarpo has produced an installation that marries sculpture and video on a grand scale for the fourth chapter of The Soul Expanding Ocean, an exhibition series curated by Chus Martínez. Interrogating the colonial histories inherent in scientific research of the natural world, Policarpo creates a series of videos which technologically expand the perception of the human eye, allowing viewers to access visions of the natural world through artificial portals.

D.H.office provided complete exhibition management and production for the show, including fabrication of the installation in close collaboration with the artist, logistics and installation, management of day-to-day operations and visitor services, production of communications materials, and event coordination. We identified a celebrated Italian scenographer to partner with in order to create Policarpo’s trompe l’oeil boulders, helping the artist expand her practice to a much grander scale.
