Andreas Shulze: Relax
Sprüth Magers & D.H. office, Venice, 2022

Relax by Andreas Schulze is an exhibition debuting three new glass sculptures which the artist made with Murano craftsmen in Venice. Combining two contrasting forms—a pair of glass bricks and an organic, white, worm-like curve—the pieces are a continuation of Schulze’s research that juxtaposes the quotidian with the unexpected. The glass works are complemented by six paintings from the artist’s Vacanze series, colourful patterns and textures abstracted out of seaside scenes.

Organised in collaboration with Sprüth Magers gallery, D.H.office oversaw the production of the new glass sculptures in Murano in close cooperation with Schulze, identified and prepared the exhibition location, managed all logistics, art transport and installation, and managed the day-to-day operations of the gallery. Relax was presented in D.H.office's project space in Venice and was timed to be included in Venice Glass Week, an annual festival devoted to promoting the Venetian glassmaking tradition. The works were included in Schulze's exhibition On Stage, first mounted at the Kunsthalle Nürnberg and subsequently presented at The Perimeter, London.
