The Soul Expanding Ocean #3: Dineo Seshee Bopape. “Ocean! What if no change is your desperate mission?

Moving from the Solomon Islands to Mississippi, Jamaica and finally South Africa, Dineo Seshee Bopape's video installation—lerato laka le a phela le a phela le a phela/My love is alive, is alive, is alive, 2022—carries viewers on a mythical journey via the world’s seas. The film was co-produced by TBA21 and Pirelli HangarBicocca, Milan where it was subsequently presented. Inspired by a two week trip spent with curator Chus Martìnez in the South Pacific, immersed in the ocean life of the Solomon's, Bopape’s meditation on water connects personal myths and dreams to collective memory.

D.H.office provided complete exhibition management and production for the show, including fabrication of the installation in close collaboration with the artist, logistics and installation, management of day-to-day operations and visitor services, production of communications materials, and event coordination. Exhibition elements included a three-channel video installation with soundtrack as well as a sculptural intervention constructed out of branches in close cooperation with the artist.
